New Hat Standards have confused me!

My hat has BSEN 1384 and the British Kitemark. That's all.

Is it allowed or do I need to find a new one?

What discipline are you competing in as they are all different?

Well it depends. If you're not competing anywhere, then carry on. If you are competing affiliated, then check the website for the relevant body. If you are taking BHS exams, then no, it's time for a new hat.

BRC seem to say it's ok though. Did they all always have different rules?

BDs new hat standards don't come into force until 2017.

DEFO not allowed under BRC this year!
BD,BE,BS extended their use till 2017

In short you will need a new hat to compete

How old is it? I would replace hats every couple of years anyway. Nowt as precious as your bonce.

It's 3 years old and has been worn for one in-hand show and 2 dressage classes! Stored carefully in a padded bag on the shelf in my wardrobe. Will replace it for next year if we affiliate
