New Horse and Nervous Rider

I am about to take my new horse on an amble and although I am quite an experienced rider I am scared! My Husband has already taken our new horse on two ambles and he has been 'well behaved' although he did describe him as going 'like a rocket'. I dod not want to ruin him and pass on my nervousness to him, nor do I want to be riding a rocket! any hints?

when i got my last horse i took it very slowly with her. my advice is dont rush it, build-up your relationship get to know the horse . have you been lunging it and playing with it in the school. then try and go with something that is also calm. first time i hacked out i spent a good 30 mins in the school first then we went for a little cool down hack. i gradualy cut down the time in the school and increased the hack time. it did help.
