New horse (gelded at 3) is Rocking the cradle....

Hi,
I have the worlds most amazing horse - Ruby, she is 3yo and personality wise she is utterly perfect. I bought her as a scrubby little thing and over the last year I have made her into a beautiful loving girl.
I then met Jasper, in a MUCH worse state, 3yo and completely wild, malnourished, lice, the lot. But you could just see how beautiful he could be. He was given to me as a colt and I have moved him and gelded him.

The issue now is that after fetching him from his paddock and then going to get her, he didn't just go for her, it was that aggressive I honestly thought he was trying to kill her (and before you say that is just horses I have seen horse dominance ect ect and kicking rearing but I have NEVER seen a reaction like that!!) and their paddocks are next to each other low electric fencing so plenty of opportunity to get to know each other ect.

I don't expect anyone to have an answer for his behaviour, but has anyone been in this sort of situation before with a colt gelded at 3? What sort of behaviour should I expect from him and what should I do to work through this??

A matter of weeks, when the vet came to do it he said it should only be a matter of days for the hormones to settle and the "theoretical" sperm bank to go.

Or sometimes longer, he may not have been well socialised either which will add to the problem.
He should be kept apart from the mare until he has had a chance to settle, I have had a few ponies that were gelded late,they turned out with mares but some could be a bit aggressive with other geldings if in a mixed group.
 
I can see all that making sense, but when I spoke to the vet about it-as he had never been with mares or used his boy-bits he shouldn't display stallion attributes.
But It would Seem most likely to me that was the case, in which case I can understand him wanting to mount her ect, but why the wild aggression?

I had/have a riggy gelding, and while he is quite possessive and friendly with most of our mares - with one pony mare he disliked her and would chase her away from the herd, (for up to 40 minutes at a time) attack her when she was put back in the paddock etc. We had a big paddock and she could keep out his way, he would settle down after a while, and she would make sure she was not trapped in a corner by him or anything.

We do not have her any more, but I cannot explain why he just seemed to dislike that one pony.

Some stallions are very territorial, he could just like nothing in his space.
