Welcome! :)

We probably need to know a little more before we can advise. Where will you be keeping your horse?

At home
DIY livery
Part livery
Grass livery
Full livery

What you will need will vary. Also what do you want to do with it?
I'm sure we would all love to see a photo of your new horse as well. :)

Newhorse,

All saddles vary greatly despite the measurement of narrow/medium/wide etc so you definately need to get it fitted, unless you are very experienced in fitting saddles yourself.

Worth worming.

If you can get the vaccination record or when dentist last visited etc( you might need to get teeth checked although not priorty as I am sure you will have plenty to do).

When the last shoes or trim? Just so you can get farrier booked in.

Worming would spring to mind as something I would do if I didnt know when he was last wormed.

Also if he has been on hay etc make sure you have a supply. Is worth buying a couple of their bales if you have the time etc as it just means he can have what he is use to for a few days...but that is being fussy..

Bedding? if being kept in?

Let him arrive and enjoy and then you can book in any visits or checks etc. I didnt use a saddle fitter as I had experienced help/advice a brilliant saddlery shop that let me try saddles etc if need be...(Sandon Saddlery again)!

Good luck bet you are excited!

When he arrives, get the saddle fitted to him by a saddler, before you ride in it because it probably wont fit as all horses and all saddles are different. Have you got rugs? Stable, fleece/cooler, turnouts, various weights of both turnout and stable rugs. Good luck with your new horse, make sure you post photos when he arrives :)

Like most people have already said, we do need a little more info . . . how will he be kept (stabled, turned out, what sort of livery, at home, etc.) but off the top of my head:

- haynets
- a knife (for cutting baler twine)
- a horse first aid kit . . . hibiscrub, purple spray, vet wrap, scissors, sudocreme, vet wrap
- numnah/saddle cloth to go underneath saddle
- rugs . . . what and how many will depend on whether he is clipped, how much turnout he gets, etc. . . . but my boy Kal has multiple turnouts in different weights, some with neck covers and some without and multiple stable rugs (ditto neck covers) to cover all weather eventualities
- grooming kit should include hoof pick, a good stiff brush for getting rid of mud, a water brush and/or sponge for removing stable stains, a nice soft brush for buffing up coat and brushing face, a comb or brush for mane and tail
- if he will be stabled and doesn't have an automatic waterer, he'll need water buckets (and if you can find one a tyre to stand them in so he doesn't knock them over)
- feed skips . . . personally I don't like buckets with handles for feeding - too much worry about feet/legs getting caught in them
- something to travel him in to protect his legs . . . bandages (with pads under), brushing and overreach boots or travel boots . . . but you can probably borrow these
- if he's an ex-racer and quite fine-coated, you might want to consider an exercise sheet for him for when it's cold

Other equipment I have for Kal . . . lunging roller and dressage girth, side reins, lunge whip, two lunge lines, spare bandages, tendon/fetlock boots, a bib/vest for underneath his rugs to prevent rubbing (his rugs rub his shoulders - doesn't happen to all horses), tack cleaning and conditioning stuff, feed bins, a rug trunk, a locker (for keeping all the grooming, lunging, cleaning and medical stuff)
