hubby has told me that a new horse has arrived at yard today and is in my boys old house - next to my mare i haven't been up there today hubby does her when i work he thought he'd best tell me rather then i go up there and see him in there, i knew it was arriving but didnt think it was this quick dont know how i'm going to feel to be honest i know it's a month now and i know life has to go on..just going to be little odd to see another horse in there thats all!

In saying this, i'm moving my mare to a lovely yard closer to home that has the best facilities - e.g walker to help her with the injury getting her on road to recovery little sooner i hope, and it's a yard i've wanted to get into.

Has anyone else had this and what did you feel? - not sure what to expect??

Concentrate on moving on hun. It's a different horse and yes, life moves on

When I lost Tigs and got Dizzy, I wondered how I'd cope with seeing Dizz in Tiggy's stable. I think because they are so different it made it just that, different.

Hugs to you.

yes i am trying to think about the move, i'll prob be ok about it I think once i see it...just going to be odd thats all!! i have to get over it somehow haven't i so maybe i need to see the new horse?..

Hi Kezz,

So sorry to hear how this has upset you, I do know how you feel as I lost a mare 2 and a half years ago and I still miss her every day.

You may find that seeing a new face is actually easier than the empty stable? I am lucky enough to keep my horses at my mum and dads house so the yard only has my two and a half on it (the half is a shetland). When I lost my girl I could not stand seeing her stable empty so moved my lad into her old box..

You may find that seeing the new horse there is not so bad as you think.

It sounds silly but you really will feel better in time - it really is a great healer.

Hope you feel better about things soon,

Gem

Its horrible to start with, no way of putting that nicely
When my old loan pony went back i couldnt imagian another pony in there, but a week later new pony arived and within days it felt normal
xx

well i faced it last night....went up to yard to do my mare after work and well.....i didnt really know how i would react, but i balled my eyes out to see another horse in their....so i took mare out for some grass and sat with her crying thank god i have her she has been an angel throughout all this...i know i have to move on with it, but cannot wait to move her now as the barn is now bit cramped for me, she has taken to standing in corner at back of stable again...after merlin went she stopped doing this now she knows theres another horse in their she's started doing it again...odd??

The new horse is very pretty arab but with attitude, i went and said hello as thought this would also help....it did in a way but still feel as though my boy should be in there!!

I am finding it all just so painful still....wish it would ease now i really do but he was my best friend!!!
