New horse is lame??

Hi all,
Im hoping someone can put my mind at ease somewhat.
My new horse arrived just before Xmas and has been absolutely fab. Last Sunday i arrived as usual to ride but quickly realised he was stiff on his right hind and somewhat walking diagonally if that makes sense?
I checked him all over and cleaned/washed out his feet to see if i could see anything but there was nothing glaringly obvious to see. I gave him some bute and put him on a nice deep bed for the night. (What i did notice though is that a strip of my electric fencing had been dragged across the ground so I'm thinking perhaps he got caught.)

My farrier came out the next day and found some bruising and a small laceration to the corner of his frog but nothing horrendous. Anyway whilst it has vaguelly improved since Sunday I'm starting to panic now so i have booked my vet in for tomorrow.

i have just had one pts and my older boy is lame pretty much everywhere so i know I'm thinking the worst but really could such an insignificant amount of bruising cause him to walk like a crab?

Hope someone can help.

Maybe if he did get a bit caught in the fence he
tweaked his muscle? That could make him walk off behind.

This. Mine did the same tangled himself in a fence trying to get to a mare and was moving a bit funny for a few days after. He was fine eventually.

Pretty much in an identical situation. My first pony was pts two weeks ago and just a day before that my other one went lame:( turned out to be that he had just tweaked a muscle although we were initially quite worried as six months ago I noticed straight away he was stiff and the vet said it could just be that he pulled a muscle but it looked more likely to be arthritis. Being a 12 yr old horse we had to think about giving him back. This also turned out to just be a muscle tweak which I was very relieved to hear because I'd had such horrendous luck, my laminitic pony that was pts two weeks ago had been diagnosed with cushings and EMS just two weeks before and I'd just sold another horse. My experience with owning horses has been frustrating, painful and heartbreaking, I just wish I didn't love them so god damn much hahaha!! So sorry this probably wasn't very reassuring at all haha but what I was trying to say is that I'm sure it was just a muscle tweak from getting caught in the fence:)

It still could be. I don't think my horse was fully sorted til the Friday after he did it on a Sunday too. It's like when we get a sore muscle sometimes it goes quickly sometimes it doesn't.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.

You did indeed reassure me about it being a pulled muscle. One expects the worst.
