Thought I would be better off posting this than venting to my non-horsey work colleagues, who will think I am a weirdo!!!
All the kicking at his belly and swishing is still going on whenever I try to touch anywhere between shoulders and quarters (with whatever brush/hand/rug)... got the vet coming tomorrow to sedate him for a sheath wash (cos he gets grumpy if i so much look down there!) and general check over... hoping that will help sort him out... its so frustrating not even being able to change his rugs without dodging legs!!
I reckon it would explain why he is being so devensive (and combined with moulting its probs driving him mad!)... Anyone else's geldings had problems like this?
Fingers crossed a wash down there(it definately needs doing anyway!) will relieve the irritation and make him less grumpy and defensive! I saw him being groomed etc when i tried him and he was as good as gold and contacted the old owner and she says he hasnt done it before...
I wonder if it is to do with him not peeing while travelling? He was in the trailer for about 11hrs and was absolutely busting when he arrived.... anyone else had similar problems? He is drinking and peeing normally now....
I guess its just process of elimination...
