Hi! I'm taking this lovely mare on trial next week, and hopefully will buy her! She's a three year old wb/tb by Carthago Sun III out of a Thoroughbred mare. She's just been backed. and hopefully she'll turn into an upper level eventer! Her show name right now is Titanium Sun, which is pretty, but I'm thinking of changing it, and need to give her a barn name. So, any ideas? Also, I'm wondering if anyone has insight onto how much she will grey, or what your experiences with horses greying has been. and, does anyone know of any other Carthago Sun III babies? thanks!

Hi, is she registered as Titanium Sun? Can you change a registered name, I know that you can't with my specific breeds.
I always think that it is a shame when registered names are changed as a breeder has gone to a lot of time and trouble to produce a foal and deserve to have a little recognition, and often a name with a prefix or suffix is a Breeder's 'calling card' if you like. As for a stable name, the right one will come to you the more you get to know her, don't you like Tia? She has got very long legs!

As for the greying, at some stage in her life she WILL be white, whether that happens sooner or later it is hard to say :) As she is a rose grey, rather than steel, she will probably lighten up more quickly, I would expect her to have greyed out by 8 or 9 if she is this colour at 3. I have had a lot of greys, they all went white, fortunately I like white horses.

I hope she works out for you. :)

Ps, did you get snowed on the other day?

I'm another who thinks it's not really on to change a registered name.

As for a barn name, surely she already has one? What is she currently called?

She's already got names - the one her breeder allocated her, Titanium Sun, and her stable name is Tia according to the photo. Have you decided what colour she will wear?

She's gorgeous!

As others I would stick to Titanium Sun and then give her a different stable name - no offence to anyone but I'm not overly fond of Tia!

Hey, yeah I'm not a huge fan of tia, but I will probably keep titanium sun. We already have a Sunny at our barn! Her color's gonna be bright green :)
