New horse-new problems.

Thank you everyone for your comments I'm having a lot of fun working with this horse and getting to know him. I strongly suspect that he has been lunged before due to his reaction but has not had a positive time with it. His reaction was more than naughtiness, it was almost like he was afraid. He was clearly telling me that he really really did not want to be lunged. I am now going to take this back to basics with someone/me leading him out.

Once you're sure he knows what to do, pop him over a few jumps on the lunge - he might start to think being on the lunge can be fun

Why didn't I think of that. Cheers bex1984. That would prob work. I called him in for tea last and he came running, popping over the jumps I had left in his feild as he went. Bless him
