new horse transport fallen through :-(

Just a whine as my new horsey was supposed to be coming today, I booked a transporter who would bring a small companion too but they had technical problems so now I have to rearrange! Rubbish!

Really need to move horse by the end of the week!

Have tried the main shared transport people like Gillies etc, none of them do the route I need from Cheshire to Cambridge - you would think someone might be heading Newmarket way!

So any recommendation would be great, we think horse will be anxious without other horses so either shared or with companion would be best but if not I still need to move her so could maybe try sedalin??

Try Kate at Ace, she's very good and helpful and is only just over the border; she comes to me at Malpas as a norm. TBH, most of the horses settle well whether they're alone or not, I wouldn't think a companion would be necessary as once they start moving they settle and Kate is an excellent driver. http://www.acehorsetransport.co.uk/#

ETA, most transporters don't like sedation at all as all horses react differently to it.

Thanks everyone. I was going to go with north west but the current owner (hang on I'm her owner now, yay!) seems to think horse will get stressed. I have never transported a horse really so don't know if she would be likely to settle or act up, it is a 3.5 - 4 hour journey so don't want any problems halfway!

Pity your not closer I could lend you a Shetland! But I'm sure she will be fine. North west picked up my foal yesterday and he travelled three hours on his own quiet as a lamb. I was having kittens about travelling him but Annabel is so chilled out she seems to have the same affect on horses and owners too!

My homebred 2yr old went to his new home 2 wks ago having never seen transport or even loaded before and had only tried on travelling boots. He had 1 sniff at the ramp and followed me straight in ( lorry ). He had a 5.5hr journey and he wore full length travel boots and tail bandage and guard. He was on his own and travelled like a pro and walked off at the other end not even having broken a sweat. He had been handled, stabled and learnt to tie up ( and cross tie ) since he was born so it wasnt a big deal for him. The experienced transporters will be used to travelling youngsters tho I think its the tb yearling sales at the min so I think the big guns will be busy with that.

Thanks everyone I have used the horse transport network website and finally found someone to do tomorrow after much juggling!

North west seems to have a good rep widget and I spoke to her earlier, unfortunately she couldn't do tomorrow but will bear her in mind for future as she seemed so nice!
