So Daisy has been here for nearly two weeks now, she seems to be settling in really well. Have managed to get her a royal blue turnout rug to match her blue and yellow headcollar (breeder's stable colours) (I know, I've become one of these people that buys matching stuff...and I LOVE it!).

She gets turned out with our old mare, so far they've not got on very well at all. Playmate is taking every opportunity she can to make it clear that she's alpha female. Thankfully they seem to have settled into some sort of amicable relationship now! I think the main problem is Playmate wants to stand and eat, then move forward a bit and eat some more, whereas Daisy wants to run around loads, snack, then run around some more! I think they're rubbing along in some sort of fashion where Playmate stands and eats and Daisy runs around her in circles. As long as the eating doesn't get disturbed, I think they'll be fine!

Haven't had much chance to get photos of her due to work and it getting dark so early, but these are a couple my dad took the day after Daisy arrived:

The plan for the next few months is to get some weight on her and help her strengthen up. She's keeping herself ticking over with all the running around but I will hopefully do some in hand basics with her and perhaps lunge her too a couple of nights a week. Basically trying to build up a relationship with her!

She's a cheeky little madam, but very sweet natured. Thankfully she's smaller than my other two so I can manage the slightly more upbeat temperament!

Thanks for reading, just wanted to show her off :D

how old is she? she looks pretty young? very pretty though!

She's rising two in the new year, so a baby. She's got a bit of growing to do yet but I don't think she's going to be overly big, having seen her half brothers and sisters (and her sire throws foals that have his talent but their mothers' build)! What she lacks in size she makes up for with character though!

oh bless her, thought she looked young! I have a 2.5 yr old and he's already 16'1 at the bum, was only supposed to make 15'2, so have a beast on my hand!

The one piece of advise i'd give you is not to lunge her! if you do anything, I'd do long lining! I've not started anything with my boy yet but will start long lining after the winter!

i've been advised by loads of people that lunging isn't great for young horses as its not how they would move naturally! but obviously up to you! just advice i've received!
