New horse wanted – don’t know where to start!

terribly sorry for the loss of your horse

don't give up on a welshy as it sounds like one would suit what you need and as you sound as if you could bring one on your self you should pick one up well within your budget

i know they can sometimes be hot and silly but ive personally never met a bad one although i have only known 5 they have all had nice temps one was very hot and fizzy but safe as houses

they are out there as i have one and he sounds just what your looking for although i am reluctant to part with him just yet as my main horse is off a year with a tendon injury :( and he is very green (seems to of been dragged out the field backed and ridden away  )
but hasn't been indroduced to a hose pipe , boots etc

iv'e only had him about 6 weeks and i just love him to bits :) he is great fun and very friendly and genuine as he was very worried about some things when he first arrived yet still tried his little heart out to do as i asked bless him ,he is growing in confedence every day with me :)

but i am way up north (northumberland) and am not really looking to sell yet but if you are still finding yourself looking months down the line he might be worth a look

theres a few pics here http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=465416

good luck in your search and don't be tempted to rush into anything as it is a buyers market at the min :)

angelish - he's LOVELY. Just what I'd like to have!

Thanks so much everyone for all your suggestions and help and advice. I'm feeling much more positive and going to have a good look over the weekend and see if I can find anything to go and see.

Thanks for the pms too, some promising lead there!

I will keep you posted....:D

I'd probably go down the local dealers yard and have a nosy, many different types in the same place - and you both sound like you have your heads screwed on enough to spot any dodgy ones! Failing that another vote for a connie here, or even a new forest, I rode one that was just a super pony!
