My new horse is coming in the next few weeks and i'm still unsure what to feed him. He's been a hack horse who has been lightly schooled in recent years and I am wanting to take him back into full work and eventually competing. He has no health issues and isn't prone to anything. I just wanted to know if there was any particular feed or supplements that people thought best for him. He's a 15.2hh Dun Irish Sport Horse Gelding.

I'm pretty sure that's all you need to know?
He lives in at night and out in the day.

Any advice would be fantastic!

Nothing other than grass and hay. Get to know him and then feed him for his needs, which given his type is likely to be very little.

Good luck with your new horse.

I would feed him whatever the previous owners do, then if you feel after a while its not working or you want to add or change you can, but as his going to be moved to a new strange home I would try and keep everything the same for now until his settled, congratulations by the way he sounds very lovely I bet you can't wait until he arrives.

I would start by feeding what he is currently on so its not all big changes for him in a new home. However by the sounds of it you are planning to up his work and therefore his feeding needs are likely to change and it also depends on the quality of your grass and amount of hay you feed etc. When his work load increases I would defo change his feed but nothing complicated as he is an Irish type! I would just go for some nice quality chaff, pony nuts and I would also add a balancer like blue chip original. This just keeps nice condition on them and gives them that bit extra when in a good amount of work!
Good luck
