New horse, why do I feel disappointed?

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pleased for both of you !!!! :D

Stress can do very funny things to us all - take it from someone who knows;)

:D I know now don't I? :D I think she's great, I probably had a combination of post purchase nerves, new mum syndrome, realisation of reality LMAO and sheer panic. No weaving seen yet, she's sweet to handle even if pushing her boundaries with me!

New saddle tomorrow and a visit from my Wonder Farrier... I have a horse!! :D :D :D

Aw thank you so much!! I welled up as well yesterday!! I'll take some (BETTER) pics tomo :) although we have committed the cardinal sin of hogging her :).. When I started clipping, underneath her skin was not so good, and half her mane had been rubbed off by rugs, now she looks really smart :) if only she'd let me take her little feathers off!! LOL

My new lad is a mild box walker. I didn't know this until I got him home but to be fair, I didn't ask and when I went to see him he was on the horse walker. I don't mind him doing it, it seems to be more out of boredem and I am hoping he will stop doing it now he starting to do a bit of work or at least stop when he is out in the field for most of the day. He is still permanently stabled currently so I can't really blame him. He isn't stressed at all and is a very lovely, cheeky chappy. It all depends on how much you can put up with.

I bought my mare from a racing yard last year with "no soundness issues and no vices" - my arse!
After £10,000 in vets fees and lots of box rest due to numerous operations, I've been left with a weaver. But she only seems to do it when she is in her stable and there are other horses doing things around her - when all is quiet, she stops, so it's clearly related to stress. Two weeks ago we turned her out on 24 hour turnout rather than just daily turnout. She only now comes in for feed/grooming etc. I haven't seen her weaving once. She comes in, is much, much quieter, eats her food and then goes out again. In my case it seems like turnout is the cure. And she is also better when she is in work and has something to think about. But it is heartbreaking to watch, and there were times when I could have just cried - I felt exhausted just watching her. But it's not the end of the world. I found a feed ball helped as well, but a mirror did nothing for her....
