Hmmm, so I got a new ponio last week and thought I'd introduce the world to him, seeing as he's in the process of being introduced to my world. OK, so at 16.1 he might be a little on the tall side to be called a ponio, but still... :P 7yo ISH gelding, bought for hacking out and schooling, a fair bit of RC level showjumping, dressage and hunter trials, and some hunting in the winter perhaps. Soppiest boy ever, it must be said. :)

So yes, a couple of photos below to introduce Rocky to all you luvverly people on HHO!! And also a request for opinions, because I am (*sigh*) one of those people who loves matchy matchy :D but I can't decide what colours to put him into!! So chaps and chapettes, any thoughts??

He's lovely, very handsome head.
Matchy I would say petrol, yellow, orange, red, blues. You can get away with pretty much anything on a bay :-)

What a gorgeous looking lad - Lucky you!

I am a tad unimaginative would go for like darker colours, navy, maroon, dark green.

But a nice 'burnt orange' (Anky, HKM range) would look stunning on him!!

Be sure to upload some matchy matchy pics please!

I am still struggling to find a colour to match my deep liver chestnut mare.... x

LOL Mainpower, really? Small world!!

Thanks all, he looks even better in real life. :)

4faults, I quite like the thought of petrol, although I'd need to find a second colour to go with it if I do much in the way of XC - got to have the right colours! ;)

I LOVE deep liver chestnuts Tackytoe, they always look so stunning!! Perhaps a really dark violet, or maybe indigo? And you can be guaranteed matchy matchy pics as soon as they have them, trust me!!! :D

Ooo Wildrider - I had not thought of Violet (told you - NO imagination whatsoever!)

I shall now go on the hunt for some.... We can compare Matchy Matchy pics! :p

Well I have spent the last few days pondering pretty much every colour under the sun, so it's more diligence than imagination sadly!!

I like your thinking, hurrah for matchy matchy! :D

I like burnt orange as a colour MrsMozart, and it would look fab on him, just don't think it would suit his rider too well - I don't look too healthy in the vicinity of the colour! :(

He is gorgeous Im so jealous.
On my bay I used to have I had a lilac and lime green headacollar. Ok you cant actually see the purple bit on the headcollar but its in the middle of it looked rather smart.

OMG, so many, so very very many... I think I need to win the lottery, then I can have a different matchy matchy every day... :P

You can get away with most colours with a bay, But for shows I always like to have something a bit brighter. My grey I had had bright pink masta travel boots they looked so good. And a two shade lilac travel rug and a lilac headcollar. It caused a lot of people to look as at 17hh not a sight you would normally see but it looked soo good.

Oh golly - I clicked on to 'Sellers other Items' and found SETS!! Wonderful glorious matching saddlecloth & bandage sets!!

I have settled on Navy & Gold

And umming & arring between the sand/biege or the pistachio set - Eeeek!! Exciting!!!

Oh wow, he's nice! And I am loving the matchy matchy, navy will look very smart. We have a bay mare and my daughter always liked purple or navy on her.

Her new horse is a chestnut and I am drawn the petrol/silver for him, I think it will look good, just need to convince his management team :D

Wildrider I cannot believe that you posted this and these photos you have just bought the very horse I want. As you cant decide on colours could you just send him to me then you wont have to worry anymore and I'll be so happy.

I see what you mean!! Ohhh, you are too bad, such tempation! ;) I don't even know where to start! Actually, that's not entirely true, I'm liking the corflower blue & silver, and the anthracite. But... too... many... brain can't cope!!

Navy and gold is a fab choice, really classic! :) I demand photos! I like the pistachio, really different!

Thank you S1! Navy would look smart, but I'm not too keen. Not sure why, just can't put my finger on it!

Get convincing, that could look really nice on a chestnut!

i'm going to be weird and say he's lush, but i loooove the size of his feet. so shcrummy :D:D

hmm colours..i use purple and it suits my bay but she's a lady :p
red maybe ? dark blue?

Lush isn't weird, although it's an underrated word :D

Purple suits him, but my mum has purple on her horse, and both of us with purple would just be sooo twee!! Shame, but just too much LOL.

Ah. Well in that case, how about burnt orange and a sort of chocolate brown? Does brown suit you? :D

Hahaha. I actually quite like the idea of burnt orange and chocolate MM, sounds really nice!! :D

Sorry Flibble, but hard as choosing colours is, that boy is going nowhere!! I was so stoked to be able to find him, he's an absoluite sweetheart and exactly what I wanted!

To be honest I don't think I'd worry too much about matchy matchy.
He is so stunning, that he'd still look amazing if you put odd bandages on every leg, and added a clashing numnah:D

If you insist on matchy matchy then I think turquoise would suit him very well:)

:D I think so, but then I'm biased. The matchy matchy thing is just to satisfy my personal desire for colour perfection (shallow I know)! I don't insist on it, as I know he is absolutely gorgeous and doesn't need any help from me, I just have a thing for matchy!!

WildRider can I ask where you bought him from? He looks familiar. Lovely looking horse and a kind eye :)
