Feel reassured that you buying him means he is going to a great new family and to a home who appreciate how much he meant to the previous owner- I think the current owner should be pleased to have found such a great buyer and you definintely shouldn't be upsetting yourself over it.

hi. my sister just sold her horse which she never thought she cud sell but was offered a ridiculous amount of money that she cud nt refuse. she had him for 7yrs and broke him in and in 7yrs spent a total of about 4weeks away from him. she is totally gutted but coping alot better than i thought she would. its just going to take time. just let them know how much he ll be loved and keep contact with them. loads of luck and dont be too hard on yourself cos it sounds like he ll have a lovely home.

When I bought a horse about 3 months ago it was the same for us, the owner had owned her for 7 years and was visibly upset at selling her, although I found it upsetting at the time it also reassured me that the horse was all what she said it was and she was only selling to move up a level which her current horse could not improve to compete at the higher level, it was almost a positive really.
