My new horse seems to be settling down!

I even managed to change his rugs in the stable this morning, which was impossible before due to pacing and barging. He is shut in completely with an infill (for his own safety, due to attempting climbing out) and he seems to accept he is staying in over night now. I have also grown in confidence and am no longer afraid of pushing him out the way or growling at him if he gets silly. I can groom him and tack up with no probs, as he now stands still (for a while anyway

) All seems to be coming together and i am really pleased with him. Will add piccies him soon. Thanks for all the advice and support.

Thanks guys, think the firm hand has helped loads. I was so nervous around him before. Mind you he was acting like a psycho!

Sarah i can sympathize with u! when i got my boy he would barge and pin me in stable spook at stupidest of things, if i tied him up to loose(normal horse would have) he puts his leg over the rope and snaps it and bolts down to the field. i had to shut him full in his stable after he jumped stable door and was put on stable rest after cutting his leg! i was scared to lead him as he pulled me to the fence.

6 months on hes allot easier doesn't barge as he knows i will growl at him a smack his shoulder, i lead him to park and he isn't shut in his stable anymore. stick at it and it will come right, they just need to know you cannot be walked over and rewarded when there good they soon learn lol just in between bits that are horrid! but it does get better and i can tie him up
