New horse!

What are you insuring for???? £250 a month is ludicrous

FWIW I insure mine with insurance emporium. Both eventers are insured well below market value (5k each) but get full vets fee cover. The intermediate horse is about £55/month, the younger one about £40/month. Both have had claims, the younger one maxed out last year (and then some) and the premiums haven’t gone silly.

High four figures. That doesn’t include loss of use (that was almost £400 per month) and doesn’t include high risk activity

With NFU that was £5k vet fee cover! I nearly had a heart attack.

Perhaps I need to put in a market value below what I’m paying? Even insurance emporium were quoting me £100+

Petplan were more like £130 a month. Is that reasonable?
Umm it's going in the right direction but still seems a little high. My mares value was peanuts which helped but I was paying closer to £50 (she's no longer insured so I'm probably a bit out touch and that was 3 years ago).

I will say though they paid out with absolutely no hassle and were great to deal with.
