Looking for a new 7.5t truck, who to avoid and who is recommended?
We usually source our own chassis. I have looked at a couple JSW and Kevin Parker, super builds but £10,000 more than I want to pay. Looking for a ladies compact box day living any suggestions?

My previous 2 boxes have been from Ian Saynor in Wakefield. He trades as Highwood Horseboxes. Both boxes were FAB, not "posh end of the market" but built very strongly. He does also do posh boxes, but I wanted to spend under 20K for a 5 year old chassis, brand new conversion, basic living, spray job.

He did my old HGV wagon, we had it 10 years in regular use, stayed away at 3 days, drove it from Scotland to Hampshire and East coast to West. It never had a fault. Well, Charlie horse did remove one window bar and all the window locks but that was not Ian's doing!

Because of the longevity of that box we had the next done by him too, a 7.5 tonne. We only had that one 5 years because I have had to downsize due to injury, but that one also performed faultlessly.

Edited to add........ Ian is an engineer, and designed the ramp springs and steps himself to make them easier. I think my old one may be for sale with the company I traded it in to for my new one. PM me if you are interested, I think they would accept around 10K

Where are you based? I can recommend John Rose in South Wales. Don't have one myself, but have many friends who have them or who have had work done by him and are very happy. No idea if he's reasonable or not, despite being nosey and wanting to know what they paid, I'm too polite to ask!

I had fantastic service and build from http://www.emsley-metcalfe.com

He made me a lovely lorry which I am so enjoying. Guy was so helpful in the design and has added a few things that I would not have thought of. He also said I would have a tweak list and I did. I found after a few weeks somethings that I needed to add and he was more than happy to do them for me.

Can highly recommend Tristar. Solid build - build to your specification and when I looked around came in cheapest. Their website is not the most detailed (for example there aren't good pics of the living they currently will do) but the build quality is really good. Really good to deal with as well and very helpful.
I have one with living and its really far better quality than I was expecting and very smart too. They produce a lot of lorries so have all the expertise and material to do what you want.

I have an Oakland (probably 15 years old now), and cannot fault it (apart from the rusty Cargo cab, which isn't their fault!) If I was in the market for a new build, I'd definitely speak to them.

avoid (all same person) James or Jimmy Avann or McKie /Mackay, Horsebox by james, AVA horseboxes, and latest ebay name is something like iveco parts 1066. Based near York. check other forum threads or PM me

I have a GB bodybuilders lorry, I love it. (Its the red white and blue one on the 6.5 ton pics on the website )
