New ID what do I feed?

My new 17hh ID is arriving soon and wondering what to feed.
I've been told that he is currently on adlib hay and scoop of pony nuts chaff and sugar beet. Just confirming this would be suitable or if he needs anything different
I also have a 16.3 TB who lives out unless its really horrid weather. He has a round bale with a net over in a bull ring.
Will the ID be ok to go in with my TB (obviously after a period of time) or will he over eat the hay?

If the ID is looking well on what he's currently, then I personally wouldn't change it.

There's no reason why your horses can't be turned out together, unless either horse is aggressive. But only you'd know that.

If he’s in good condition I would keep him on what he is already on but only give him a quarter quantity for the first couple of weeks. Just while he settles in and you get to grips with him!

Hello, exciting times for you…personally ad-lib forage sounds great as does sugar beet…personally I’d knock the chaff on the head and the term “pony nuts” could be anything..I’d feed a pelleted balancer but not at the levels indicated on the bag…probably just 150/200g a day.

If my ID had free access to a bale of hay he would eat and eat until it was finished.

An ID with adlib hay is the like me with a tin of chocolate, it's all going very quickly.

Just see how his weight is and his stress levels from the move initially and go from there. Out of work (many in work) won't need a bucket feed other than a good balancer fed at correct kg percentage. ID's are magical food convertors !
