Well, two things really.

Firstly, my friend informs me that the word 'Ara' in Latin/Spanish means 'altar' - as in the religious sort. As I have no wish to become any kind of sacrificial offering this will have to be changed. His registered name is Caramelo which means Toffee. I suppose I could call him Toffi as no one over here will know what it means, or I thought about Ari ('arry).

Secondly, I started him with the clicker today and he is one bright button. He had sussed 'Touch the plastic scoop, hear the click, get the treat' by the end of his first ten minute session. He almost had the hang of, 'No good mugging mum, I don't get anything for that'.

I was very pleased with him, so hopefully we will be able to move on quickly with it.

Pointless post, just wittering

Sounds fun, I like Ari too. Although it makes me think of 'Arry 'Awk (Uncle Tom Cobley and all)

Don't you just love it when you get a smart horse who twgs to the clicker straight away?

I just tell mine 'Good' the clicker always seemed to get in the way for me. Just don't train him to ring a cowbell unless you like the sound, my palomino has just figured it out and I can hear him ringing the bell from the house! The mini yearling has 'pick it up' on the brain at the moment and is picking up anything he can get his teeth around, buckets, rugs, brushes, he even tried a cat today but that didn't go down too well!

Good Luck with him, have fun.

How about Melo? Or Meli?

I had considered these but FB's real name starts with an M so I don't really want another one! I know my son will just call him Smelly if I used Meli - he threatened as much when I bought him!!
