Very excited as yesterday new lorry was purchased...... fingers crossed Dad may let us keep this one!!! (he buys and sells a few) But this is a huge upgrade from our little lorry, we've been on at him that we needed something more for ages, so now going to sell our little one and get this one up to spec.....

So just need anyones advice where we can get the bits and bobs to upgrade the living?? And any advice what we should def have in it or not??
At the mo just small bench seat, wooden walls, saddle racks and bridle hooks, couple cupboards.
Not sure whether to make tack room/cupboard or leave it open?

Anyway here's some pics.....

Should we have carpet on walls or that new laminate stuff? Going to get hob and sink and fridge but need supplier good quality and not over priced.... etc etc

Then got to decide what colour to have it sprayed!!!!!!!

It's really nice, the living is pretty good already, if you google caravan/horsebox fittings you should get some suppliers

I would suggest you get it weighed 1st, before you go cladding walls etc... That way you will know how much 'spare' weight you have to play with.

That is one smart lorry.

If you've got room and you are going to stay away in it have a fridge, also hob, oven and hot water. I paid £1k for all of those and that was pretty cheap. But 2nd hand you might be able to pick them up cheaper, have a look in your free ads paper. Definatly get a leisure battery.

When we bought our lorry it had wood panelling on teh walls and it made it really dark and old fashioned looking, but if you had nice panelling it would probably look OK. Put a white Ceiling up.

If your Dad sells lorries he should know where to get the stuff cheap

Madam_Max's husband fitted the living in their lorry last year, so she knows where to get the bits and pieces from. However, she's not at work today, so probably won't be on here ! Try PM'ing her.

Very tidy lorry you have there, I would go for the laminated stuff on the walls , pick a nice light colour . possibly upholster your sponged seat ... no idea about the rest though ... you spraying the whole lorry ? or just the cab ? " they call it mellow yellow " :P

yes def fridge hob sink and hot water - hoping to get tank so can use it to wash off too maybe with just a tap or a hose.

Dad has plenty of brochures, but set me challenge of finding good value!! as its for me!! will get our local paper!!! thanks

yeh i thought lighter colour would be better and more modern than carpet.... setting mum on to doing new seat cover and matching blinds/curtains!!

spraying whole lorry!! and probably not yellow..... maybe silver and blue??

Thought you might have it covered, but worth bearing in mind. ***Makes note to find weigh bridge to get own lorry weighed too***

As long as you've got a strong enough water pump in the living all you need to do is T off a bit attach a hose pipe with a spray tap type thing on the end and it will work I think my horse shower cost about £5 to make. Our pump does the hot water, shower, sink and horse shower.

I spent about £3.5k fitting out my lorry but that was complety gutting the living and horse section.

Carpet is incredibly expensive BTW.

brill thanks for that always wanted a horse shower!!

we're thinking about a couple grand on living then grand on paint job so around 3k in total - will then be lovely box (hopefully)

still not sure whether to make cubicle/cupboard for tack (like for a toilet could even drop one in under tack? or leave with out?) or leave it open in living??

If I was redoing our lorry I would make the tack locker underneath the sofa in the living, you would open it from the outside as normal but the space would be underneath where you sit.

A grand on the spray job is probably a little low unless your dad is going to spray it. With an ali body it will need an acid etch primer first or paint will fall off quickly. Then a normal primer followed by colour coat.

When I resprayed ours I used a 2 pack paint and clear 2 pack lacquer which is very resistant to scratching. Materials alone cost around £750.

This lorry was built by East Anglian Horsebox Co, they normally build them well, this is ther link to their site:

Your Dad had a great buy with this one off Horsemart, I'm not in the market for one at the moment but if I had have been I'd have been fighting him for it. The lure of selling it on for a profit may be too much for him
smile.gif
Good Luck in persuadeing him to let you keep it.

WHB Horsebox supplies can provide all the 'nice' bits for the living :-

www.whb.org.uk

The basics are already in place though, it just needs 'trimming' and a few mod cons. Most caravanning / camping shops will sell things like sinks, pumps, mains looms etc...

I don't think it's a huge job to finish it
smile.gif

glad you think so, i found it on there and then persuaded him to ring about it and luckily he liked what he saw and bought it!!

yes will need all my persuasive powers!!

thanks, i think its just a case of doing it bit by bit.... will be nice having a smarter lorry!!

Painting it - luckily dad has good contacts and will get very value for money, just to decide on the colour!!!!

goes off in a sulk - I want it
grin.gif
seriously though it will be great when it's all done up am really jealous now................
If I buy mine from a company would your dad still come and give a check over? tried ringing him last week but the answer phone was on and I hate talking to them

I daren't she'd be so upset if that got sold! She knows what I'm after as I've already asked what they had in stock as they are near to me, and her dad does checks on lorries for a fee which could be very handy
grin.gif

i know it is so nice. went out in it yesterday and just lush - off to a comp in it today so excited!!!

and yes my dad probably would sell it to you!
mad.gif
he's already said it will sell well once we've got just how we want it!!!!

i will speak to dad now about what you want and see if he has any ideas (but not our new one hopefully!!!)

why do you think I haven't rung him again as I didn't want to upset you if he tried to sell it to me
tongue.gif
can you not convince him to keep it for you?
