A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine went with some people on her yard to see a pony for their daughter, the pony in the advert was beautiful and sounded perfect however when they got there it looked nothing like the photo and was at least twice the age, they left disappointed and carried on with their search..... Yesterday, my friend was browsing a horses for sale site (as we all do) and she came across an advert for a show jumper for sale by the same person that was selling this pony and the picture staring at her was a picture of her own horse show jumping!! The seller had saved the picture of her horse from the advert she has for him on this website and had put it on their advert, now its possible that this could have been an error by the website BUT she did some googling and found the same horse advertised on different sites with the picture of her horse!!!
I FIND IT SHOCKING HOW LOW SOME DODGY SELLERS WILL GO!!! WHY CAN'T PEOPLE JUST BE HONEST!!
MY friend has spent several hours today (which quite honestly she could have spent doing other things) phoning the websites concerned and having this persons adverts removed and also speaking to trading standards (costing her on her phone bill) She is quite rightly very MIFFED about this for several reasons including the fact that it looks like her horse has been readvertised under someone elses name at a reduced price and this in turn will make people suspicious of her advert when they see the same horse on 2 different adverts...

Oh my-that is absolutely terrible!!
Im always worried about something like that happening but now ive actually heard it happen to your friend just makes me even more cautious!!!
 
When she rang me last night to go online and look at it, it honesty looks like her horse as been readvertised under a different name and at half the price, i'm sure you're right it won't put some people off but some people would have rung this other person thinking they were ringing about her beautiful horse which 'appears' to be now advertised at half the price! Luckily she saw this advert because she has been able to get the adverts removed but imagine if she hadn't known and people were either ringing the ad of the other person (because he's half the price in that one and they go to see the horse and its not the horse they think they are going to look at), or thinking the horse must have a problem to suddenly have its price dropped by half (which if i'm honest is what I would think - but i can be very cynical), that would have surely have effected the response to her own advert. Lets hope trading standards give em a whipping!
 
Thats nothing - found a video I put on youtube of my sisters horse Sj on someones website claiming it was there horse for sale.

Also had photos sent to me of a horse for sale that were blatantly photshopped.
 
It is incredible that people do this - and for what? They can hardly sell something they don't own.

I would be fuming if that happened to me - surely these people can be stopped. Apart from anything else they are using someone else's copyright.
 
I totally agree, I personally think we should be able to name and shame people (in law in general - not having a poke at HHO rules) then they wouldn't get away with these sort of things so often and would hopefully find honesty the best policy!
 
I really can't see the point of this dodgey seller doing this - surely she must realise that when someone turns up to view the horse, they are going to see that it is not the same one? Or does she really think that people can be that stupid. Glad that the websites removed the advert straight away. What did Trading Standards have to say? Bet your friend is furious and rightly so.
