Hi, i have just joined this forum today, so thought I'd post a little about my background. ;);)

I used to ride regularly as a child / teen and then moved on to other things ie work / family, etc:rolleyes:

I needed to find a new hobby as I had far too much time on my hands and was suffering from depression after losing my Mum .

So, I decided to start horse riding again - went to a local yard once or twice and was offered the loan of an ex race horse ( didnt know that at the time ;);)), but sadly, I had a nasty fall whilst dis mounting - my fault, i forgot to lift my leg far enough over the saddle !!

Anyway, after a few weeks to recover , I started to look for an alternative yard and started part loaning a riding school pony .

I had her on part loan for two months and completely fell in love with her . Depsite my constant nagging, the yard owner was not prepared to sell her to me BUT my nagging paid off in the end  and I bought her one year ago this month !!!

She had been a riding school pony for the past 18 years and is now aged 27 :eek:and we now class her as semi retired since we have owned her .

I ride her on light hacks a few times a week and she has taught my teenage son to ride .

In April this year, we decided to buy in a bigger pony / horse for my son so that we could both ride out together.

We bought a stunning skewbald mare aged 9 - unknown to us and being novices at buying horses, she was heavily in foal !!

She gave birth to a beautiful filly 2 weeks ago - the past month or so has been a complete nighmare as we had originally been told by the yard owner where we have them both on DIY livery , that she could not accomodate a mare in foal / foal on yard BUT I'm delighted to say that both Mare & foal are doing well and we are planning on keeping the foal too !!

I have had to learn an awful lot about foaling etc in a very short space of time  but we are coping !

all advice welcome !!

Welcome :) What a story!

Advice is to ask about anything but do not expect all replies that you like :) I post up questions and if I don't like one or more of the responses I just ignore them and use the info that I do like. There is a wealth of knowledge on here in many spheres :)

Wow, what an adventure for you, a new foal! You will find a lot of help on the breeder forum, I am sure.

Pics of mare and foal would be great.

Welcome to the forums.

Thanks everyone - I have tried to post pics, but I cant get it to work !:(

I will ask my hubby to have a go - he's better on the computer than me !;)

Welcome! :D Loved reading about your horses, what a shocker! A nice surprise though I hope :o I'm also quite new here but everyone has been really supportive and friendly already, I hope you enjoy it on the forums :p

I find the best way is use Photobucket. Open a Photobucket account, upload your photos there. Left click the IMG code then right click and paste here. Do make your photos small though (I reduce mine before I put them on Photobucket if I'm planning to put them here) as otherwise they mess up the screen size and people get upset. I think it messes up their mobiles or something? :o
