Hello I am a new member who is looking forward to joining this forum, I have read a lot of the posts on TBs and "old" horses with interest. I have a beautiful TB mare, she is 20 years old and I have owned her for five and a half years. She was bred by Ginger McCain but has never raced. I will try and post her picture (taken in April this year).

Hello Pony Feet, Ebony is beautiful, I love dark bays, do you still ride her? She looks good for her age. I used to have a connemara x TB and he was 23 when I got him on loan and he was as fit as a fiddle and in great condition.

Thank you TwoVeterans, Ebony is as you said your previous loan horse was, as fit as a fiddle! I am hoping to take her hunting this season as well, she went show jump training with me today and did very well.

This was her about a month or so ago at a local show, very keen as you can see :D

Do you still ride your mare? And if so what do you do with her? She looks in excellent condition on that photo not long out of winter :)

Wow, that's a great picture, she looks fabulous and very keen! I ride Jasmine four times a week, we are just a couple of happy hackers, I have never had the confidence for jumping and am a bit long in the tooth to try it now. I don't have a trailer (or car large enough to pull one) so it would be difficult to go anywhere that wasn't within hacking distance. We are in a fabulous location and have access to moorland without having to go on the roads. We are also able to use a section of some gallops to gain access to the moor so it is great for having a blast. Jasmine did showing and jumping with her previous owner and is very well schooled, she was almost 15 when I got her so I don't think she minds the quieter life.

Thank you :D

I think the main thing is, is that Jasmine is still fit and exercising regularly! Many people make the mistake of retiring elder horses when there is nothing wrong with them still being ridden, and then ending up going sooner rather than later as they lose the main thing that keeps them active.

Do you have any more pics of her?

Not every body is in to jumping, although I'd love to have access to moorland and gallops as I like, like you do :D
