They've started to appear. The dreaded England flags that adorn the cars of football fans every two years. (World Cup and Euro). Does no one realise the danger these can put horse riders in? Otherwise traffic proof horses can be spooked by these flapping and noisey menaces. Does anyone else agree that they should be banned?

Speaking as the owner of a horse who can calmly pass a combine harvester at close range but thinks large dock leaves are SO SCARY I treat every hack as a lottery anyway and, hey, it could be worse

Have already sent a text round to everyone I know and put it on facebook the other day too.

There is a facebook group supporting falgs on cars so I have put a polite request on there asking people with these flags to pass horses carefully as alot of horses won't have been exposed to them before.

Amusingly these are one of the few things my horse doesn't spook at! Dark patches on the ground clearly have monsters in, but flags are just flags apparently!

Well, we have had a couple of threads about these now. I don't agree that they should be banned. Train your horse to accept them. Put some in your field, stable etc etc, and on your own car and drove past.

Oh tell me about it. We have actually gone out and bought four flags to get the horses use to them, we have one on the horse box. We have been waving them over their heads. They were a bit ‘woo what's that’, but then proceed to try and eat them, lol!
