Hello, Just registered and wished to say hello...An English Buddy left me a few copies of HH. It's really something. Found your forum and wanted to jump in...I already consult a N.American forum but find myself all too often waking when everyone's asleep and vise versa...
Live in Normandy, near the Haras du Pin, where I have been restoring an old farm now for 10 years. Enjoy riding but am just an average rider, never having done any competition etc...

Cheers, rr

Thank you for your replies(and I will go over to the other thread, New Lounge...)

What's a DIY question?
It will quickly be remarked that I am extremely "computer stupid," though American and grew up in Silicon Valley a million years agol

Is this a computer question?

rr

oh a DIY is a question about Do It Yourself - because you said you have been fixing up a place for 10 years, so i'd like to think you're a bit of an expert on all things to do with building/carpentry/plumbing etc etc.

Thanks. I am a bit slow on the abbreviation's...I am far from an expert but I get by. Getting qualified people here is difficult, time consuming(because they never show up,) and expensive...I started with my apt in Paris, years ago, then did a small village home and then "bought the farm..."

The nice/sad thing is that I always just a stone's throw from the horses but am not allotting enough time to just throw on a saddle and do an hours ride or workout...

At the old house, friends just used to come by and unplug my tools and make me go riding! Here, there are many breeders but not all of them ride...

Hi Fellow American now in "Paris".
I'm over here in England so if you need anyone to translate for you I now know not to call trousers pants and washing up liquid dish soap lol.
Six years and I still miss tumble dryers that actually work and the occasional 4th of July.
Grew up in LA county in California, born in Glendale...50 plus years in horses and still going strong.
Keep in touch!
Love ya

I am from Palo Alto, ca...Been living over here so long that my own 8yr son hardly speaks English! I do miss MEXICAN FOOD!

This place has a nice feel to it...I miss the Anglo Saxon Good Cheer and helpfulness...Would love to get over to England and see some of the show jumping...Here, according to my English Friends, living nearby, the place lacks the festive side of competitive events in England...

Wouldlike to hang out and throw darts at a pub as well!!!

I am in the book in Normandy! If you'\re in the neighborhood...

Hi RR, your talking about French plumbers and co had me laughing-it sounds soooo like here! Im sure you will enjoy HHo and sometimes wish that you had never found the damn thing

Hi Richard, we are virtually neighbours! Well I am getting a bit carried away, as I live about 1 hour west of Haras du pin.
I am over here supposedly to build a stud farm but spend most of the time messing around with my horses. It's a hard life.

Have fun on this forum but be afraid, it is addictive!

Hi there,RichardRider !
Somehow feel sorry for people living in Normandy, people so friendly down here in the south in comparison...
Son is professional rider in the SF Bay Area in US and it's so beautiful out there.
The forum is a crazy and very friendly place. Anything I can help with, just ask. Like you, I love horses, own one but have never been that competitive myself.
Bienvenue

Hi Everyone...very new to this got a great horse, grandson of Contender, moves great but jumps too, couldn't decide wether to compete in dressage or show jumping. Really love to get into breeding one day....think I've decided on show jumping...um...well, for now at least! Found blog with loads of articles related to show jumping...(adambroom.com) Seems as good as any place to start...What do you say? I joined and have been entered into a prize draw for Olympia and even got to see some lesson plans for cavelletti jumping. Anyone else find it interesting?
