I rode this morning and as OH was there, managed to get some pictures taken. Feeling very proud of this horse and have started my lessons again, and really enjoying them. My god do I need them too! I've been out of practice for far too long and have got into far too many bad habits.
He's been going through a phase of kicking/bucking at the leg, but it's improving vastly with some patience...and persistence. He happily goes forward in all three paces now, but can throw a few bucks over the first few canter transitions. After that he settles and accepts the leg no problem. He did used to do it in the walk and trot too, so it's a work in progress. Only does this in the arena, mind! Out hacking he is happy to canter with no issues, of course.
Other than that, he's coming on in leaps and bounds. He still spends most of his time hacking, but has a lesson once a fortnight so we usually do some schooling once a week, sometimes twice. The rest of the time is spent going up and down lots of slopes, past dogs, sheep and chickens and generally seeing the world. Lots of walking and some uphill trotting and cantering.
We are also in the process of buying a towing vehicle so I'm planning to take him out to just absorb the atmosphere of shows for now (no competing), and then maybe do a quiet prelim towards the end of the year. If all goes well, still thinking of taking him to the 4yo dressage horse classes next year. Who knows!
Anyway, pictures from this morning..can't resist showing him off! The winter coat is starting to arrive in full force, so a clipping is due soon I think!

No prizes for guessing whether or not he threw a buck after this!

Excuse the chair seat here. I am working on that too, but sometimes habit kicks in and it reappears, especially in the old GP saddle.

Thanks for looking! sorry for picture overload!
