I have finally accepted that for now anyway Im just not too bothered about riding I still love having my horses but am happy pottering about on the yard and playing with the kids and their pony.
So a friend of mine who has known my mare and loved her kept asking if I would sell her to her,I know she will be well cared for and enjoyed ,she is only going to be 5 minutes away so can visit when I want and I have first refusal if she ever wants to sell her, which she probably wont.
Have agreed on the sale so needed to buy a new pony as companion to the kids section A as I rent my own yard so no other liveries.Last night I went to see a stunning little 2 year old bay sabino section A gelding who is ideal, very kid friendly and I can play with him for a couple of years till he is ready to break in as a lead reign.
I am thinking about maybe doing a bit of in hand with him in the mean time but he needs some building up for the show ring,I dont want him fat,My ponys are on limited grazing as the other section a has to come in all day due to sweet itch and although we have the acreage our grass isnt particularly good. What would you suggest to feed him to help build up slowly but without ramming feed into him and stressing his joints or risking a laminitic pony(he doesnt suffer from it but you never know especially with the welshies)
I also dont want anything that will make him too fizzy as first and most importantly is his temperament.
Thanks for getting through this as it ended up longer post than I meant it to x
