New pony has landed!

Lovely looking boy and I was going to ask if he was cut late but I see you have already mentioned that he was.

I had a horse who was that colour, his father was 100% Welsh D with mixed breeding on the dam side. He was a lovely horse but a bit of a worrier.

Are you going to run a book on his DNA?

I'm another who doesn't see much Welsh, his face is too dainty for that I think. He reminds me of Wiggy but we don't know his breeding either (just that he came from Ireland so we think maybe ID x Connie, he looks like an overgrown connie but he's 16.1 and 640kg so there has to be something chunkier there too) so that's no help! How much is the DNA testing? I'm tempted but with the vet bill at £3.5k and counting it's not a priority!

It’s £50.

But I’ve managed to get hold of his breeder, so chuffed!

She had him until he was 9, at which point she had to sell. He was broken in at that time and then sold. From digging around and what I now know, he then went to two dealers in quick succession, and then finally his previous home where I’ve just bought him from.

Breed drumroll!

His dam was part bred Arab out of a Welsh Cob mare.

His sire is a TB by Primitive Proposal.

He’s the spit of his dad (below)IMG_7334.jpeg

Rode tonight and he was foot perfect. And completely chilled on the yard and in the stable too. Very happy with him!

I mean, I know it’s easy to say now you have posted this, but my guess when I opened the thread was Welsh x TB. You have found yourself a very nice horse there, he looks cracking!

I'm SO glad I bought this pony, he's been everything I hoped for and more. Switched on, buzzy and willing but not a complete spanner. Bit of a nightmare to hack at first, and it took a lot of sitting and waiting to get him out of the yard - what should have been a 20 min hack was an hour for all the stopping, spooking, reversing etc. Then in the space of about a week he was marching out and not bothered by Xmas decorations, school banners flapping, hordes of kids on bikes, hacking in a gale, trains, and lorries/vans. I chucked him in at the deep end as I don't think he'd ever hacked on the roads before.

On Friday we're boxing out for our first jump school. 😄

Him and my other one are best buds.

This makes me SO happy. You deserve some fun 🥰

First XC for Rocky and I. I think he's only been once before this with his previous owner. I was expecting him to be a bit bolder but it doesn't look as spooky as it felt. He sort of had the spookyness of the Arab, the blood of the TB and the cockyness of the Welsh going on! He did almost dump me with a case of the Whoopees at one point but aside from that I can't complain!

In a personal victory I'm half a stone down since January, which was my goal with having these two smalls!
