Basically, at home we have an acre and a half (maybe a bit more - two paddocks) and are about to build a proper yard with concrete and everything 
two stables, hay store and tack room. I currently have my 15hh cob monster who absolutely trashes his field (the past year and a half he has been on 1 acre on his own, stabled at night, which he doesn't mind) but we are about to start looking for a companion...
My mum, who obviously owns the land and owns the above monster, wants something that doesn't make as much mess as him! Her idea is something 12hh ish that will be cheap to keep etc...
My question is what is possible with 1.5-2 acres of land, in terms of daily turnout, what kind of pony or horse would be least destructive? Or is it just dependant on the behaviour of said beast?! I would love to buy something 14hh+ that I could ride and pay for myself... but I can't get something really messy! Any ideas/experiance of having a couple of ponies on not much land? What did you have and how did you get on?
