Apologies if in wrong place, we have had Lime for 4 weeks now and she has rubbed her mane out (I really could cry! 🥹) - there has been no changes since she came home to have triggered this. She did rub her tail the first few days but tail is perfect now, but her mane 🥹 - She is up to date with everything - but is a sod for rubbing on one certain section of fencing when she turned out, for the first few mins, but when I brush her mane it seems to be shedding down over. Top part is fine but middle part is out and bottom is very thin, it was beautiful when we got her. Am at a loss as to what’s happened xx 🥹 xx struggling to add the lost mane pics 🥹

Is she still itching? You say 'came home' so she's moved yard, you might have different or more flies or midges making her itch.

I know the name looks bad but my worry would be that she's going to continue to itch and now the manes gone she'll be rubbing her skin.

I really like medicated talc (sold for jock itch) for itchy places and broken skin.

You could wrap some carpet round the fence so she can still rub but do less damage. You could get a fly neck like the snuggy hoods one.

I don't think anything makes hair grow back faster so you just have to wait. You could shorten and thin the top part so it isn't such a stark difference or do a running plait or hog the lot and start again.

Absolutely agree - she came from Shropshire and we are North East so defo a change in climate etc, she seems to run when you first turn her out, It’s only 1 fence, carpet sadly isn’t an option, could maybe put some electric tape up - she is mindful of that. I really don’t want to hog her, will look at the other option of thinning etc I’ll have look in our local country store tomorrow - thank you xx

I would hog to get a really good look at the skin underneath and hopefully work out why she is itching.
We thought of hogging - but just can’t, we have had a good look and got photos but can’t upload them - there is nothing we can see which is why it such a puzzle xx

I would maybe treat as sweet itch - wash in some good neem oil based shampoo, have a look at the biteback products - the sweet relief lotion stops my mare from itching. Also, might be worth investing in a sweet itch rug - I’m pretty sure some places do make them for minis!

Oh she is - I don’t think she knows she is a pony lmao - she come running and puts her head in head collar to come in and if you stop giving her attention she will bop you with her butt and lean on you 🤦‍♀️ she a lil diva - but absolutely love her, she was sent to heal our broken hearts xx xx

Am back - so we thought we had nailed the rubbing issue, didnt seem to be doing anymore after a few telling offs, moving into a bigger field helped but she has had those moments again. She has had a full health check, no Sweet Itch nothing - just appears to be habit though not as often. Moving her back to field next door where we can zap her :'( she's had a zap before and wont go near that section of fencing now, so fingers crossed this works. YO has seen a video and I managed to get one too, she isnt really rubbing more like leaning (almost 90 degrees) and walking along fence line. She also got the blame for lifting a big metal gate off hinges (twice) though the first time she was out with me at beach and i cant see her getting that off but didnt challenge as we like where we are lol and oh i dont know - sorry all xx
