My friend has lent me her horse whilst it is for sale to hunt and compete. The main problem with this is that I have fallen well and truly, totally in love with it.

I hunted him, he was strong, but a gem. I hack him alone or in company and he is a complete dude. He is clean in his box. He has a 5 stage vetting....he jumps a course of good sized jumps.

I took him schooling last night and I felt like Kyra K, he does EVERYTHING you ask him, shoulder in, leg yield, flying changes, traverse and other things I dont know the name of but looked good in the mirrors when I was having a play!

She has leant me horses before and I have never felt like this...my stomach flips when I think about him and I get up even earlier so I have time to ride him daily before work....

Get a loan!!!
Ask for money for Xmas from EVERYONE!!!

Would she accept instalments as already suggested.... its not often one like that comes along......

Good luck!

I would say, if you don't have the money or all of it and your friend is a good friend and doesn't need the money from hjis sale urgently then maybe pay what you can now and see if you pay the remainder over a period of months.

You can but ask!

Other than that, beg, steal or borrow from family or see about getting a loan.

I thought you recently posted that you'd come into some money - or is he way outside that budget? Where there's a will there's a way - sell your other horses!

Do you have anything you can sell to raise the funds?

Nearly missed out on my mare because I couldn't afford her. In the end, I paid half upfront & took her on trial for a month, during which time I sold my new-ish car & bought an older one to pay for her.

Not ideal but worth every penny and more

WAY over...like further than to the moon and back.

I think I am going to have to sell myself.

oh no that sucks......sell car/boyfriend or husband/house and live in a tent. You won't miss boyfriend/husband as you'll be out on horse all the time. job done

I know you love this horse, but is the seller being realistic about the price she wants for him?

You could try telling her how much you can pay and see what she says. As she has already lent him to you, she must have confidence in you, perhaps she would like you to have him - irrespective of whether or not you can meet the selling price.

As my dear old Dad used to say "Don't ask - don't get". The worst she can do is say "No".

Have a chat with her and let us know - hope she goes for it
