As some of you know I run a small manufacturing company making numnahs et al. We have an opportunity to collaborate with another UK manufacturer to make a new range of horse boots - brushing boots, over reach boots, tendon etc etc.

I dont believe in copying other manufacturers, but clearly there is only so many ways you can wrap a horses leg so can I ask which boots to you like best and why? Is there anything you really dont like? Anything you really do like?

I'm v excited about our new possible range and want to start getting the designers to work!

Thankeeee

I love sheeps skin lining in my show boots with buckels rather than velcro. and for every day schooling and hacking im not to fussed on what they look like but I just bought a new pair of Mark Todd brushing boots(splint boots) with the thick and firm padding and they're great.but I also like the sports boots with the breathable fabric with all the air holes,

For every day I like simple boots, easy to put on & take off, that won't slip - think Woof Club boots.

For competitions I like smart boots - think Whitaker tendon/fetlock boots.

What I would ADORE would be - brown leather, sheepskin lined (removeable for washing), tendon & fetlock boots in PONY size.

ditto, An exercise bandage but rather then banagging your self it would be pre bangaged and velco up the back to put on and take of easy.does that make sence?

Something a little different, and snazzy

*thinks what boots she likes* I do like tri-zone boots in general, especially their brushing boots & the orange & black tendon & fetlock boots (I have a set for showjumping, I love them!)

Hmm... or black leather brushing/tendon boots with white stitched detail & possibly sheepskin lining & brass buckles? (would love them! heh!)

For hacking/schooling I usually use bandages because they're a better fit & are less likely to get dirt/stones stuck between them and the leg, give more padding which is important to me as my horse brushes and I worry about him banging himself with his other leg, and boots might prevent scrapes but don't really absorb the knocks the same in my mind... bandages come in more colours too... ha. But they are inconvenient... so like other people have suggested, boots that in a way are similar to bandages but quick to fit & well padded

And colourful!

Everything only seems to come in black or pink these days... how boring!

Oooohh!!

- Skid and Medicine boots that don't break the bank
- Bandages that are wider and therefore shorter (quicker to put on)
- Bandages that are not double ended, but are clearly marked as to what way up you roll and apply
- If you could come up with an alternative from wearing boots and bandages for polo - you would be the saviour of every polo player/groom out there!
- I like the prebandaged idea that Happy_go_lucky has, if you could incorporate boots into it as well?
- Maybe you could scrap the whole overreach boot thing, and just have a boot which extends down the back of the horses hoof - maybe incorporated into a medicine boot?

i really really really HATE bandages that are too long!!
i have only found one brand of tendon boots which fit over bandages
buckles are not worth the hassle for me - velcro all the way!

oh and there should be like velcro replacing services

Wow I am demanding!

MalteseCat I like your ideas and atleast you know what you want. maybe someone could make a buisness from making boots to everyone requirements like made to measure saddles but boots.

Wow thanks guys, there are some REALLY good ideas here! I'm definitely going to look at incorporating some of these into the new range. If you think of any more things please dont hold back!

Happy_go_lucky I certainly will let you know. I guess it will take a while to get the designs sorted out and tested. I have a feeling I'll be asking more questions on HHO over the next few weeks

. Come to think about it I may be looking for some testers when they are ready

maltesecat - premier equine make sports medicine boots that extend into an over reach boot. they are very good
