My new little project pony arrives today, can't wait til 5.30 so I can go and meet him!! He is a 14hh approx, 5yr old bay roan NF gelding. He was rescued and kept at a sort of rescue centre but it actually seems to do the horses more harm being there than good. The RSPCA have been looking into the place. The horses are out in a huge herd crammed into a field which is totally bare and completely covered in poo. They are not fed or hayed and their feet are a state. I got this pony for a very low price as they wanted to get rid of him as he is unsuitable for giving pony rides - how they make their money. The whole organisation is a bit weird!!

Anyhow, I have never met this pony but I knew of him through a friend of mine who had tried to help get the rescue centre going a bit. Apparently he is very sweet but was broken in by people who dont have a clue what they are doing. Therefore he is extremely green and needs a lot of work doing. My plan with him is to take things really slowly, make sure he is healthy, feed him up and give him loads of fuss and love, and then completely re-back him starting from scratch and do things properly. The aim is to make a nice little alrounder and sell him to a lovely home and hopefully make myself a little profit too :)

Oh, and his name is bailey so i now own 2 horses of the same name!! Confusing!!!

Here is a piccie - I will take loads of 'before' pics when i meet him for the first time tonight but don't you think he looks like he will be a little sweetie :)

i am indeed!! You might be friends with a friend of mine on facebook (berkshire equestrian) she had a few pics of him on the profile along with some others that needed to be rehomed. I didnt want to put any of the other pics on as he has horrendous feet and a pot belly in them!!!!! ;) Fingers crossed when he is next advertised he will be looking a million times better :)

Yer thats where i saw him its just that pic ive seen in her profile pic. Although i saw some others on her website do pony riding. Small world eh!! :)

it is indeed!!

My friend doesnt have anything to do with the place though she just tried to help them out with rehoming some of the ponies. They do have loads and need to get rid of some (as they have been told by the RSPCA). The woman that runs it means well but is just a bit clueless and its really putting the welfare of the horses there at risk! For me this was a fun project but also the chance to get the pony out of there and find him a lovely home in the future. If it goes well I might see if I can do the same with another from there as there are a good few half decent youngsters :)
