New Pupper pics.

I didn't know they came in other colours Aru. The landshark is very cute!
.
Lots of other colours!
Black and tan is just the most common. There are solids generally recessive blacks. This girls grandmother is black with spectacles. There's also wolf sable. Domino(similar to husky agouti markings) brown and tan. Irish spotted so splashes of white etc and massive variences in tone of all of the above.SmartSelect_20220204-185927_Facebook.jpg
I'm working on one of every colour ?.
My girl- Croia also had surprise brown and tan boy this year who is very fabulous.

She is gorgeous! I love the idea of a ‘landshark’. I always say that mine go through a ‘mad bitey phase’ where we all end up huddled up on the sofa to try and keep away from the insanely sharp, pointy puppy teeth.

There are some great UK breeders of lappies :p just saying! Also lots of European breeders who have been willing to send pups and older dogs overseas...
Just to add to the temptation lol. They are a wonderful breed :)

Oh wow, just too gorgeous ? ? ❤ when OH said malamutes were too big and we weren't having any more after ours were gone I tried to convert him to a lappie but failed, maybe he needs to meet some puppies then he couldn't say no lol

He absolutely just needs to meet some! Puppies for the win lol, but honestly adults should also win him over! The males are a bit bigger then the girls which seems to appeal to boys more..but still 15 to 20 kg category.
There's a good UK lapphund Facebook group. Advise joining and see when the next meet up is :)

Adult brown and tan for reference

also may seem obvious but these are all Australian dogs so the coats here are less dense then the the European ones like the black girl Idja before she left Norway. UK coats are likely to be larger and even fluffier.

She's beautiful, so smiley and photogenic, reminds me of my old girl noodle who would stop whatever she was doing when she saw you point a camera or phone at her and just pose for her photo, made taking a good video of her impossible though lol

Why have I never met one of this breed? Are they rare in the UK? They are stunning.

They are still relatively rare in the UK- I'm guessing around 1000 dogs based on rough estimation but growing slowly in popularity. It just takes time as imports and movement is ongoing.
There's actually more in Australia then the UK I believe.
Their main appeal for me personally is they tend to be quite a healthy breed and there's a strong emphasis on prebreeding health check and keeping the breed diversity(some kennel clubs have kept an open studbook)
I've enjoyed getting involved with them here in Oz. They are a spitz breed but designed for herding reindeer. They can be wilful and and prey driven but are incredibly human friendly and eager to learn and train when you motivate them. I'm hoping to bring both mine to work sheep in the next 18 months to see how much working drive is still left. They are fun to train though because they are soo clever(loads of them do the trick dog training here) ....but the spitz attitude of what's in it for me makes the likes of recall a bit interesting..

She's an incredible poser...plus I admit I enjoy taking pics and encourage the big smiley pose. Esky has been trickier because she closes her mouth when shes concentrating on you ?
