In all my years of going to the horses sales ive always stood firm and NEVER bought a thing!

I made the mistake this week of taking a mate with me that had never been, now ive just seperated from my hubby and am not in the best place (hubby is in a unit being treated yet again.. lol bare with me it does have relvence)

any way mate likes horse persuades me to get a number. ok ok i say lets go look again, nabbed some ones catalouge to have a look at his details and its a dealers horse.. NO NO NO i say.

fast forward half hour, ok i say but 500 i say thats it! (i actully have no money)

now her thinking was he was a nice horse, i was planning on selling my cob and buying something cheap to free up some dosh, so anyway ned comes in goes above 500 i threaten to kill her if she doesnt stop. thank the lord hammer fell on us at 620!

lol so now i have borrowed money out of the exs bank account to purchase a horse i dont actully want just neeed to x rather a lot i can get the money back into his account before he discovers what ive done LOL..

so new neddie.
15.3 bay gelding 4yr hacking out jumps etc.
he didnt want to load on to lorry and took a bit of a hammering (not from me.)
finally got him in ramp up quick and he was off, the little sod unloaded like a pro nice and slowly off the ramp!

now at this point im expecting problems, but so far had him 48 hours and hes a sweety and sound so far.

however it took 2 of us to get a bridle on him yesterday he humped a bit when first mounted and didnt have a clue, backed maybe broken im thinking not! so right back to the beginging.

today it took an hour to get him to accept the bridle but we got there, hes a real sweety no a nasty bone in him, will re break him starting with ground work and see if he grows on me!!

oh and i dont think hes 4.. only just getting top teeth, if thats the case hes going to end u pbeing a chunky lad.. (no idea why he has half a tail)

piccies!

Aw he looks sweet! he does look quite babyish but I like him.. Sounds like he's being very well behaved for a baby too!

Half a tail is prob from the other babies, we used to keep our 2 and 3 yo together and they would nibble the tail of the one in the lowest position in herd. Stick with him, I reckon he's a good buy! :D

Must admit he still looks like baby, he doesn't look like a 4yr old, what a sweety though, can imagine him in a few years time, he'll be a big chunky lad, all the best with him.

he has one look straggly bit, he also has a cut on a hock. so god nos, apparently he was out with a pony.

he is very sweet to be fair him i guess a backed baby is less likley to have physical issues.

hes a real people horse, loves a good fuss, but is also very food orinated.

this week were do very basics, learning to tie up, accepting bridle, then will learn our lefts and rights and move away from pressure on his sides, and then will move on to long reining,

oh and standing by the mounting block he refused to to do that too so will get all the little bits in place then start having a session with him and hoping on for 5 mins to do some bending work etc. LOL we shall see how we progress in a fortnight. farrier out monday as poor las has awfully long feet and 3 shoes on!

Well done you......you needed a bit of retail theraphy and a pick you up!!! :D

LOL i dont thinking using hubbys bank account for a horse that i didint want was such a good plan though, stuff it lol you only live once.

K. i agree he has shoes on that do have a bit of wear on them but honestly hes like a just backed baby cant do a straight line even along the rail and no idea about his mouth etc.

honstly id rather have that then something that has been broken badley and rears/bucks etc. also the younger he is less chace of anything physical being wrong.

he looks lovely and quite calm for a baby x i would say turn him away for a week or so and give lots of love he looks like he would enjoy it x good luck and enjoy x

hes getting a ton of attention he wont be worked every day but i am going to start on all the basics, dont worry im used to babies and he will get a max of 15mins work a day if long reining/lunging

the other stuff like tying up bridling etc he will get doen throught out the day for short sessions,

hes also coverd i lice NICEEEEEEEEEEE. he was however a star to get hosed off and a scrubbing! doesnt kick bite etc.

He looks a really nice genuine sort! Good price as well.
Another vote to keep him!

My youngster arrived crawling with lice. Two good baths using dermoline soon sorted the little critters! :P

hes around 15.3 i think to be honest hes a bit bigger.

no he wont have a forever home with me as hes not really my sort of horse. he will though have as much time as he needs and be turned into a nice balanced baby that does everything well.

Omg i dont normally like bigger horses (native ponies all the way normally) but I think I have fallen in love with this lad!!

What a hansome and genuine looking boy, hes absolutely stunning , love his build and by his description, sounds like he will be someones (hopefully your!!) best friend for a long time :-)
Soo pleased for you hope he progresses well and you have lots of fun together, its something I would love to do at the moment in terms of bringing on a just backed horse.
Good luck and keep us updated!

drop me an pm so i remember lol! he may not be for sale for a while, ideally i wanted a sports horse type to produce for the show ring, not sure he fits that bill! hes passport just says his irish. hes been in the same home a few years going by vet info on passport so i deff dont think he has any issues!

Gorgeous, I think you may have got a bargain.
FDC

he is growing on me! :D

He seems a sweetie. What are you like buying another horse! Is he for keeps then or are you selling him on? I notice you have grass in your field, we have none.

I think he is an excellent buy. Looks a lovely type. Nice horse for you, nice home for him - smiles all round. Love the photo of him sleeping in the field, so cute.

What a lovely sweet boy - might turn out to be the best thing you ever did and at least he has a lovely new home for the time being and if things don't work out you will get your money back no probs. Best wishes for a long and happy relationship (you and the new boy!) and hope your other problems get sorted as painlessly as possible.

How do you manage to get all the adorable horses?? I saw your other post with photos of your coloured cob where you were mentioning selling - I am not really a cob person, nor a coloured person but it was all I could do to stop myself pm-ing you for more sale details. And now you've got another beauty... Have fun!!
