It's called Dubs logic

Seriously though, Reductil did nothing for me at all.
I was permanently spaced out, hyper, got the shakes, my blood pressure rocketed, and I couldn't sleep at all.
Not to mention that it didn't supress my appetite...

Worked at first for me, tried Orlistat before that and couldn't cope with it, nasty!

At a loss as to what next, if I already eat healthy and have cut portions right down, and I exercise, and I can't lose weight as its so damn difficult being diabetic with it... what do I do now? It does help supress my appetite until I get in on a night, then I need to padlock the cupboards and fridge.

Pass me a fag then...

I didn't realise that the Reductil had 'stopped working' for you hun.

I'm wondering if it's similar to the old amphetemine based slimming drugs, in that you build up a resistance of sorts, to the effects...

Evenings for me, are without doubt, the worst times for snacking - I had two bowls of strawberries and double cream while on here last night

Don't bother with the fags hun

They work initially, but I would need a 100 a day habit to suppress my appetite now, and I really regret starting again.

What would have happened if you had come off the prescription drugs and NOT started smoking again?

I really don't know for sure Soots.

Even without the reductil and the anti sickness drugs, I was crippled with leg and back pain, so as a result, was less active, so I sat and ate more.
Probably one of the reasons why I feel so strongly when overweight people are criticised...

Smokers who wish to stop smoking would most likely be happy paying for the drug - have they even been given this option?

I can't see how people can slate smokers for this if they have just been told that they can get this drug on prescription and that's that?

At the moment smokers can buy cessation aids over the counter (gum, patches and I think some drugs) but can also get them on the NHS. In my last surgery, a lof of people who applied for these on prescription were on benefits so didn't pay, although they were happy to pay for fags.

sorry but as a smoker i have paid thousands in tax on my cigs and am dam sure i am entitled to treatment from nhs for amy illness or ailment inc helping me give up smoking should i choose to do so is the drug free or on precription charge either way it should be available on nhs
i dont drink and have never caused any trouble by being drunk but the drinkers had better watch out they are the next target of this government and rightley so its as anti social as smoking and causes all sorts of social and health problems .
the goverments over centuries have alowed cigs to be sold so perhaps closeing down the cig companies would be a good idea then we would have to stop lol

See this is what I don't understand. Yesterday I was in Wilkinson's, and all round the checkout area there was nicotine gum, patches etc. So, you can buy them - why not do so? If you can afford to smoke, which is a lifestyle choice of which the dangers have been known for over 50 years, you can afford to give up. If you don't like paying ludicrous amounts of tax on cigarettes, don't buy them! Oh, and I am an ex-smoker, and if I can give up, anyone can. It is symptomatic of our nanny society that someone else always has to be involved in everything.
