Rescue puppy arrived last night. Not great timing with trying to restrict Boots’ exercise due to his mystery leg strain.

Dogs seem to be getting on well, but oh goodness the nighttime crying was a shock. As Boots slept through the night from day 1 at 8 weeks old. I wanted to keep them separated at night so that Boots rests his leg and they didn’t play all night and after various combinations of this we found out at half 2 this morning that Tommy was happy to sleep in a crate in the kitchen with the door open to the lounge where Boots was on the sofa. Everyone is tired now and my husband and the dogs are all asleep on the sofa!

Springer cross something more houndlike/whippety, possible Podenco as he came from Spain with his Mum 2 months ago.

Just trying to keep everything calm as big dog sprained his leg and is supposed to be resting

He is gorgeous. Have fun training that cross! Mind you I have decided anyone who can train a spainel is a superhero, and you seem to be managing there. :-)

It’s taken 2 years to get to this point mind you but he’s pretty well behaved now! Since little one arrived his recall has been perfect every time as he’s showing off I think

Definitely, he was found with his Mum when he was very small. And he still has a puppy coat. He’s just kinda weedy

Presumably mum was a springer? I’m going to put my neck on the block and say he’s actually a full springer, unless there were others with mum who looked different. Little man looks like a full breed. I see a lot on the springer Facebook group *puppy broody* :redface3:

Mum looks more like a Brittany! He was the only one in the litter so hard to say. I guess we will never know. He just has a very narrow face compared to Boots’ big broad head

Well Zak has a fine slim head compared to block head Bear, who is his littermate and my working lines boy looks nothing like either of them bar the springer white stripe. You never know!

Unseasonal picture for head size comparison:

He’s got a very thin, almost whippet like head. Who knows, he is cute and does go to sleep unlike Boots at 6 months who I had to put in his crate to get him to sleep

Oddly, when I showed my OH, he said whippety head! How weird. Oh well, he’s gorgeous regardless.

He’s growing on me. I initially thought he was cute in an ugly kind of way, as Boots is very handsome, but he has his own kind of regal charm with that head.

Just having to tell Boots he is wonderful a lot as he’s a little bit jealous and Tommy keeps bossing him around

I think I've just realised who you are having seen a video on the rescue chat page this morning!

If it’s of 2 dogs haring round a beach then probably. I’ve noticed it’s been shared but it won’t tell me who by!

Yes it is. Boots fb page, the rescue I volunteer with share some work with the rescue he came from, sometimes helping to rehome when they're already in the UK.

They were very good. We wanted to rescue a dog this time but it was very hard to even get people to phone me because I work full time. But luckily this rescue were happy as the dogs can come to work, very pragmatic about a lot of stuff!
