New Rules for Petplans

Bu**er. If hadn't gone wrong, I would've come 4th...or 3rd i think

That'll teach me!

its this years - the first 4 in the prelim, novice restricted and novice open (and maybe elementary) go through to the second round, then the top 15 from each class in the second round (so top 30 in total) do another test in the afternoon to get the winner.

But you would think they would tell everyone a bit sooner, rather than doing it all last minute wouldnt you

As noone really knows whats going on.

So maybe Honey and I may have a bit more of a chance now!!

However seeing as the festivals started this weekend it would make sense to inform everybody last week of the change.

No - elementary is not included. As I said initially -

"The highest entries by far for Area Festivals are for the Prelim, Novice Restricted and Novice Open. Therefore, if was felt that for three classes and those three only .............."

Yes, the change is immediate. Again, as I have said previously

"A full public announcment is due very shortly but, as it is tied up with something else, has to be coordinated with parties outside BD."

However, posters were sent out to the early running AFs to alert competitors in Prelim, Nov Rest & Nov Open that it would be top 4 not top 2 qualifying (note the 62% minimum score remains). Whilst I agree the ideal would have been if BD had been able to annouce beforehand, no-one will "miss out" - a top 4 placing at 62% or more in the Prelim, Nov Rest or Nov Open will still qualify for the Area Festival Final whether the rider knew at the time or not.

Finally - no, the Area Festival Final is not running separately from the Winter Championship. Whilst the two competitions are logically completely separate (strictly speaking a rider competing in the AF Final has not ridden "at the Winter Championshps" - merely at the same venue) they currently need to run at the same time as each supports the other in terms of infrastructure and cost. To separate the two completely would increase costs for both dramatically.

The problem is Troi, that n ot many people were aware of the changes and although they are for the positive, i think some people were thrown in to rather a panic about it.

Just a shame that competitiors couldn't have been notified in a more unified way, rather than a few posters (none of which were seen by us at Wix). Think it is better to go for an all or nothing approach to avoid confusion.

I can understand the financial undertaking for separating the two Championships but it seems a shame that they are not.

Maybe it's just a bigger venue needed to increase the profile of the AF Final.
At Solihull, it always seems a bit 'pushed out the back'.
