...New Saddle...any sugg???

..Any suggestions... needing to buy one for my 4 year old tb x cob, I know I need to take into consideration him changing shape etc, so possibly and interchangeable gullet, but one with nice big knee rolls/blocks for that extra security!!!
 
Lets put it this way, I had a Wintec and then a dressage. I then got a western saddle and sold the wintec. I now regret selling the wintec and am getting another one on monday and selling the western!!

Best thing I ever bought for my cob, he changes so much in the summer and winter, nothing else would suit him better (my opinion).

Invest in a nice one, right size for you and then buy three gullets; one that he fits and then one smaller and one wider so you can change as you need to. Get the Wintec measure so you know you are measuring the right way for the right gullet for that saddle.

Bonus is they are very light too so won't break your back carrying one about :)
 
I have had literally hundreds of saddles (awkward fitting natives etc!)

and the one that I have found to be the best is my "The Saddle Company" saddle....its leather on the top but the old fashioned (lightweight) surge underneath.
This means that it can be altered as many times as you like throughout the year- adding flocking, taking it away, bumping up more on one side/front/back etc as your horse changes shape.

I have a 15.2 TB x Welsh, sho has spent the last 4 years is minimal work throughout the winter as I have been at uni, and then during the summer has been competing, thus she changed her shape all the time!!
I have had a Saddle Co saddle all this time and all that needs doing as she changes was the flocking altering.

I show in it (upto county level) jump, dressage, EVERYTHING and I love it!

I am a bit of a snob and HATE synthetic saddles, even though I know they are good, I personally just dont like them. But I LOVE my saddle co one!!

just thought i'd add that these ^^^ saddles also have a fully adjustable tree, which can be adjusted by a fitter from narrow - xxxxw an infinite amount of times. so they really are very adjustable.... PM me if you want any more info about them. x
 
Another vote for Saddle Co :) I have had a succession of them, started off with a working hunter when my mare was 4, then I sold it & bought an event saddle when she was 5 because we were starting to jump more seriously, & last year I bought a close contact jump saddle for xc although I have kept the event saddle because it's lovely for hacking. It's worth looking to see who the fitter is in your area and doing a bit of digging to see what they are like, because they are quite high-maintenance saddles so you need a competent and reliable fitter IMO. The other suggestion I'd make is a Barrie Swain saddle. I've got a Humphries & Swain holistic tree dressage saddle which is beautiful. It can be adjusted - not infinitely, but enough to accommodate my mare's changing shape. Barrie makes a saddle called the Semiflex now. It's more costly than a Saddle Co but gets excellent reviews from what I've read ;)

brand new, the saddle company ones cost anything from £450 - £1000 depending on whether you get the basic (perfectly good, i have them for my horse) range, or the posh, buffalo leather range. etc.

second hand they go on eBay for £200 - 300 but it's usually only the basic range that sell on ebay as that's by far the most common range. however, if you were planning on having one to last years and fit well, you can't beat a new one, so that it moulds to your horse's shape.

sorry, i have no idea about WOW ones. but lots of people on here have them so i'm sure someone can advise. xxx

eta: be wary of the ones that are 'adjustable' with only the front gullet, as that only changes the width of the gullet (eg a wintec) and not the whole tree...

This saddle is excellent value for money..........£399.00 includes girth, stirrup leathers saddle cover and a numnah and it's an adjustable gullet. We bought one for a 3yro last year and it's one of the best buy's in saddles we've ever had is way more comfy than my Prestige that cost 3 times the price and the leather is supper soft big thumbs up for this one!! I also think the above offer is only on for another few weeks!!
 
Only critism I have of WOW (and I know someone who uses them and says the same) is that they are VERY heavy...I can't use them on one of my boys as it is SO heavy.
Shame though as their concept is really good!
 
I loved my Kieffer Venedig I had with my last horse. Incredibly comfortable, improved my seat no end and had an adjustable tree. Unfortunately my current boy is just too wide for one.
