Hi i am getting a new saddle for my cob as he has a wintec 500 and it is slipping all over the place. I would like to get a T4 Cob gp but from my saddler it will be a 5 week wait, which is a pain.
I was thinking maybe getting one mail order and then getting my saddler to come out and fit it for me? But this means i am then committed to that saddle, whereas if i got saddler out i could try a couple of different ones?

Opinions please !!!

buy from saddler so you both have the choice. the fit is SO important. tbh i wouldn't buy online even if i knew the exact fit, size, make and model i wanted... there can be variation from 1 saddle to the next.
if you were going to be running marathons, would you buy your trainers online and hope they'd be the right ones, or go and try lots of pairs and get them fitted to make sure they were perfect? i think it's the same thing tbh. your saddle is your 'interface' with the horse - it has to be as good as pos!

well i would say if you know the saddle you want the size and model buy online then get checked by a saddler... also can prob get cheaper online,,,, but do make sure its def the one you want and if poss try and see if someone has one you can try first?

Thanks for the feedback, to be honest i am quite restricted re budget and type of saddle, basically there isn't that much money in the pot and i need a specific cob one so i guess that just leaves TG or wintec and i have not heard good things about wintec. I have orderd the t4 from my saddler but as i say it will take 5 weeks, and i feel that if i am most likely to end up with t4 anyway i may as well get it cheaper online as u say tedster.
