Can I have a wee moan before my head explodes.

I got a saddle fitter out to my young horse in October. I tried a few saddles and got her measured up but didn't decide there and then which I was going to have. I have a saddle fitting form from that visit with tracings on it but because I'd not made up my mind, the saddle details are blank.

A few days later I'd made up my mind, so called my saddle fitter to let her know and place my deposit. She was driving so asked me to call head office down south. I ordered my saddle over the phone and paid a substantial deposit. I specified the model I wanted and the colour: black. I only own black tack, even though I know brown is more 'correct'. I received an invoice in the post which specified the model and size but not the colour.

My saddle was delayed in manufacture and delivery due to flooding, then snow. Last week it finally arrived. We put it on in her stable (pretty dark) and then I had a little sit on it in our indoor arena. It was taken back to get the flocking tweaked and the tree narrowed slightly.

This evening it arrived. Saddle was popped on her back and saddler declared it fit. Hallelujah!

Now I've got it home and looked at it in proper light I can see it's fr**king dark brown!!!

I've no written confirmation that I ordered a black saddle (Idiot, I know!) and now I'm paying £1600 for a saddle that doesn't match anything I own (bridles, breastplates, girths, boots etc!!). I hate to make a fuss, but do I have a right to complain?

If it fits you both, does it really matter? Although it is one hell of a price!!!

Exactly - this is a brand new saddle made exactly to our specifications. I know colour shouldn't matter, but I can't see me being in a position to purchase a saddle like this again.

Ella19 - last week the saddler delivered it and it was dusk and my barn isn't terribly well lit. Hence why I've only just confirmed it's brown now I've got it home.

:( :(

Thanks for the advice so far. I'll call them in the morning, although I'm a total wimp when it comes to making a fuss.

Stress over, saddler has got back to me. New made to measure saddle (in BLACK!!) on order and get to keep this one for now.

Big massive thumbs up to Barnsby!!
