My horse has thrown a small splint in last few days. Six years old living out with one companion quiet pony at livery yard with horses other side of fence. Not in work for last week as having a holiday. Any advice in general please. I'm thinking of trying splintex gold as the silver one requires box rest. Has anyone had any experience. Not lame and no heat. It's only small so do I bring her home to my house With companion pony were I can bring in at night and do magnetic therapy at night. Or do I leave out at yard she is at? She is settled at yard but isn't a stress head so will be ok at home to. How long do they take to fully form??

So has mine! Just found it today - mine is in work (dressage) no heat or lameness. Interested in any experiences as mine does do some showing in the summer! Thanks

I decided to bring home so I can bring in at night.I've been googling.... !!! I think I'm going to give her a month off to let it settle and hope it doesn't get bigger. As although she's not lame I don't want to make it worse as she will have her legs for life and I want to minimise the possibility of future issue. From what I read it take 4-6 weeks to settle. Ive been putting magnetic boots on during day when turned out with a quiet elderly pony. I've ordered some homeopathic stuff!! It didn't cost much and hey you never knoniw! http://www.freevetadvice.co.uk/splints.htm
I've also ordered some DMSO gel I think I'm going to put on overnight. Think I'm also going to add some msm into her feed for a month. Oh and I'm using ice vibe boots once a day. Probably pointless as it's not hot but again it might help. I just pray I'm doing the best for her.

Leave it alone is the best thing to do. Can cold hose but best off leaving them alone to settle- more fiddling now worse they can be!
