Thinking if redoing our stables and re pouring their floors... does anyone know how thick they need to be to have internal stables fastened on to them?

At LEAST 4" - 6" would be better. And make sure that whoever lays them for you puts in a) a decent slope (1in10) right across it - and b) provides a suitable shallow drain to take liquid away (many builders are morons if you don't stand over them with a big stick and tell them in no uncertain terms what you MUST have.)

I'm building stables next year but I have a question.... Is a slope and drain really needed with todays bedding? I have one in my current stable but hate it as it gets used as a rat run and I have never seen anything moist in it.

If i wash the stable out, I always sweep out the door as it is a bigger opening!

Having had a pipe burst in an area of our barn that has a level concrete floor, I would always opt for a slightly sloping floor. If you ever wash out it will just spread everywhere and you will be sweeping forever! My stables have a slightly sloping floor with a gulley just outside the front with a drain which works well. The internal stable partitions are ok on my sloping floor, the floor is 6" thick I believe. If you have a drain, make sure they dont put it right outside a stable door like they did with mine, its a pain in the butt!
