Hi all,

We are currently in the very lucky position of being about to purchase a new stable block. It will be an L shape with a total of 8 12x12 and 1 corner box of 12x16.
We want to make sure we get the best quality for our money, so they last as long as possible, but we don't want to spend more money than necessary (as always – 20 years of saving for this, and we are on a budget!). We have been looking at 'mid-range' stables that are pressure treated and guaranteed for around 15-20 years, sturdy tounge-&-groove, and fully lined osb including the roof, which seems good.

So far, the Withington Hill stables (Premier range) look good value - has anyone used this company? What are they like, and how well do the stables last?
Has anyone used any other stable company they would recommend?

Also – we hope to be able to build a 20x40 menage also (planning still going through!), does anyone have any good companies they would recommend. We live in Gloucestershire. We want to get a company to build the whole menage complete, rather than us try and do bits ourselves, but other than Maple arenas (which look great but are very expensive) we haven't been able to get any quotes from compaines that will build the whole thing in our area.

I have been reading the very helpful posts on this forum for a long time, but have only recently joined. Thank you in advance all for your help! Mazz :)

We looked at quite a few, but settled on Redmire for our field shelter, they will deliver countrywide I think although based in Sussex - we were delivered en route to one futher afield. They do a range of qualities/prices of stables etc to suit needs/budget. We have the Hunter. We're impressed with the build quality and design (as are our ponies and the swallows who have chosen to nest - even the cross spar they built the nest on aims their poo on the ground rather than on the wall!). However what really impressed us was they built and delivered on the day they said, arriving at the time they said and finished it (and cleared up) within the time they said.

Haven't got around to the menage due to ££, but I do quite like the sound of Martin Collins - they're nearer you at Hungerford, have seen a couple 'in action' and they look quite good, and I'm told do a good thorough build job although towards the top end ££ wise. I think doing good ground works are important. I will ask to see/speak to people with menage on similar ground type before buying. However haven't won the lottery yet :) .

We are having a new stable block and school put in, well hopefully, it's currently in planning still.

I have chosen Bill Kear to do the school and all the ground works including base for stables. He is also taking care of all the planning. For the stables I have looked around and compared several and will probably go back to Redmire. I don't live very far from them and they have spent a lot of time with me getting the design right. Also we have already had a lovely field shelter from them several years ago. When we moved house they moved it for us without any hassle. They have a fantastic range to suit every pocket.
