New style freelander?

My Dad just bought one on an 07 plate. It must be a freelander 2 and it's a TD4. One question...

Will it tow the Ivor 505 with 1 or 2 horses on board? We have a slightly unreliable Disco so an alternative option would be handy in case of Land Rover emergencies as they are not uncommon!

A Freelander will tow 2 tons. So if your 505 is 900kg, then you can tow 1100 kgs.

however the plate on your trailer will say something like 2340kg ? - this means the car has to be capable of towing that amount - even if you tow the trailer empty you are breaking the law if you are towing with a vehicle not up to towing the plated weight - i have a freelander td4 and it tows my Ifor 401 (single) trailer fine - my plate says 1600kg as its a single. I did in an emergency once tow a 505 for a short distance with two horses - the vehicle struggled.
