Yesterday I went in a shopping spree, and got myself a new pair of paddock boots and half chaps.

I originally wanted some synthetic leather chaps, but they didn't have a very big size range and being a bigger lady makes larger sizes a must!

I had a look for some that fit, and all they had at a reasonable price were the Shires Suede Half Chaps.

I really like them, I'm just feeling like they look a bit strange with my paddock boots..
Pretty much all I'm asking is if suede chaps look okay with leather boots. I asked someone in the shop and they said they looked fine, but they seemed unsure.

I can post a photo if needed.

(I know riding isn't a fashion show, I just feel like they look equivalent to bright pink sparkly chaps!)

Depends what you're doing, I think they are fine for hacking, lessons and schooling but I wouldn't wear for competition and good fit and being comfortable is more important than looks (I think).

They're pretty much just leisure, so there's no rules.
Maybe it's just me being fooled because I wanted the leather ones!

I actually prefer the suede chaps for everyday, very comfy, and I like how they look. Maybe just not what you're used to? I reckon
you'll be a convert after a couple of weeks x

I have suede chaps with leather boots for every day and think it looks fine (not that I'm that bothered how they look anyway :D). Also they are so so comfy!

Absolutely love my shires suede half chaps, always wear them with my leather paddock boots. I actually threw them in the washing machine without thinking once) I have the thinner neoprene type ones as well which wash) and they came out perfectly, I now wash them all the time on a low temperature with non bio and they're still going strong and still super comfy and soft (had them 5 years now). :)

I also have a pair of the Shire's suede half chaps, in brown, which I wear with brown leather short boots. The are a good colour match so to my mind they look reasonably smart for leisure wearing. Have also chucked them in the washing machine - they dry a bit stiff but soon go back to normal with wear. I have never had leather ones (and no need to have anything smarter atm) but I think the suede is maybe softer so gives more of direct feel with the leg?
