as the subject says really. competing at local level only, and was wondering what the general consensus is? long boots? boots and chaps? black blazer? twead blazer? tie? etc etc.

as a spectator i have seen a real mix. is this perfectly acceptable?

thanks!

Well how old are you?

If you an adult in Showjumping - Long Boots or chaps, tweed/navy/black coat, white/cream/beige breeches, smart stock or tie and matching hat. PLEASE don't wear black coat and blue hat - that really makes me cringe!!

But as you said, its a real mix, I think that its down to personal taste in showjumping and as long as you look smart, anything goes!!

i'm 23... find the whole thing a little daunting but am determined to get involved!

oh and totally with you on the navy/black clash. i want to ask people if they realise they don't match!!

I think your attitude is really excellent. Well take it bit by bit then. Have a look through some of the catalouges and get an idea of what you like and can afford!! Also you could match your horsey with what you wearing etc, the possibilities are endless!!

I personally used to wear a navy coat, white shirt and nice tie with collar pin, navy hat and cream/tan breeches with long black boots. Always have your hair tied up as well.

The more you do, the more you will develop your own style!!

The one thing that looks really bad IMO, is to wear rubber boots when competing. long boots are expensive but nice gaiters and boots aren't!!

great, like i said this is a big help as it's all so new to me. only planning on competing against myself really if that makes sense and see what happens. out to have fun really.

Agree with DS!
Ebay have some brill offers - there was a post earlier in the SY i think about "Neddy" breeches. I think mine were £24.00 + PP!
Even better if u are a small adult Pikeur childrens shirts fit!! They are about £25.00 and they are really smart looking!

Oooh I wear anything for SJ I seem to have accumilated a fair amount of jackets over the years, but I would say that I think that a tweed is the most versitile as you can wear it for SJ and showing classes and dressage I think - dressage makes me nervous and I try to stay away! , hunting the lot.

For SJ I wear, my Anky polo neck competition shirt, white jods, black jacket, black hat, (navy back protector
