Hi all i'm new to this forum so here goes...
i am after advise on how to start eventing. i have worked with eventers in the past(and young horses and show jumpers and hunters...etc) but i have never entered an event myself. please can anybody tell me what i need to do? do i have to reg with somebody.. ie BHS? any advise will be great. thanks.

If you haven't evented before it might be worth trying a couple of unaffiliated events first, you don't have to register with anyone first, just enter with event running it. They are quite often run over the same courses as the affiliated events but are much cheaper! There is someone on here that has a website with all the unaffiliated events (LEC I think). That way you can see how you get on without the expense of affiliating! Then if you decide to affiliate you register yourself and the horse with british eventing. Hope that helps :)

Welcome to the forum!! If you google "british eventing" you will get their website which is the official UK body for affiliated eventing and they have all the details you could want. However, if you've never done any eventing before or aren't too confident it's best to start off doing single events (dressage, SJ, Hunter trials) at local centres, then put them all together in local one day events before affilliating esp as british eventing is pretty expensive and there can be nothing worse than paying all that money and not getting to even try the XC course!!

Be warned though... you will be addicted and bankrupt... :D
